THE RENEE AWARD

What a surprise to be awarded the Renee Award! I have only been around on Blotanical for a month but have already met some lovely people and seen some amazing photography not to mention gardens.

It is one of the most meaningful awards in blog world because it honors someone who is incredibly inspirational in her intelligent and witty writing. And by doing so, this award celebrates women's smart, strong and inspirational spirit! It honors women who spread joy and love like an Acorn......a small package growing into a tall and sturdy oak tree which gives more acorns.............. I am so honored to receive this award from my dear bloggy friend

Cherry at Cherry's in the garden.

Part of my aim with my blog is to raise awareness of Lyme Disease caused by a tick bite which can lead to many devastating symptoms, but can be avoided with a few weeks of antibiotics taken at the time of the bite. How many of us gardeners are aware of this? Certainly I was not.

For information please look at the links on the right of my blog. After 6 years of painful debilitating arthritis and now nearly 100% recovered I make no apologise for alluding to it now and then in my posts and by doing so hopefully help to prevent someone else going through such an illness that can so easily be cured if caught early.

As some of you may well have gathered IT is not my best skill so I had to have a nights sleep and a clear brain to figure out how to copy and paste into my blog to pass on the Renee Award.

There has also been much consideration to decide who to pass it on too. So, so many lovely blogs I am following thank you and it is not just women who are doing such interesting blogs.

So my choice of 5 will be

Pauline Roses at Wedgewood House and Gardens

Cindy Rosehaven Cottage

Catherine A Gardener in progress

Anna Green Tapestry

Maureen Allotment Heaven

I hope you all enjoy your awards and find five more deserving people each to pass on the award to.

Thank you Cherry I am honoured.

  2. Alison Thank you and how kind.

What excellent work is going on with Lyme Disease submissions at present for the IDSA review of guidelines, so much scientific support for ILADS.

    Have a good holiday.

  7. Joanne, I have just logged on to blotanical and read your message, so here I am! congratulations on a well deserved award, and thank you so much for choosing me as one of your 5 to pass it on to, I am honoured. Now I just have to figure out how to copy and past it onto my blog. The copying is the easy bit, but where to paste it isn't. x

  8. Hi Maureen
Yes it took some time to figure out. If you click on the bit on your post to add one of your photos and instead of clicking on browse there should be the option to choose a uri paste your copied details here.

  9. Hi Joanne, this is a lovely post and I think it's great that you pass on the info about Lyme Disease. I'm glad to hear how well you are doing now after such a serious illness. The awards thing is a tough one for me...but we all have our own way of doing things and passing it on or not is a personal decision. I am completely fine with either choice and the bloggers you picked are my friends too...and I love all of them! Congrat's to the awardees!!

  10. Thanks Jan You cheered me up.
I am having a frustarating time. Mike hired a shredder to tackle the compost pile of twigs and it was faulty so by the time he had been back and forth to get it sorted he had done no shredding and had to go to work. I did about an hour then came in for lunch. Went back out and the switch keeps cutting out again. Then like an idiot I stood on the plug accidentally of course it didn't take my weight and broke. What is it with me whenever I do something like this it all goes wrong.

So with a broken plug and anticipation of a grumpy husband, the compost heap looks hardly any different. Ah well another favourite task I'll go and attack the ground elder, nearly but not quite as bad as bindweed at least the roots reach as far as next door not down to Australia.

  11. Joanne - many congratulations on this well deserved award and thanks for your kind thoughtfulness in passing it on to me. I will have to put my thinking cap on to decide what to do with it now :) I am so glad that you have overcome your illness and are making people more aware of Lyme Disease. I was vaguely aware of it and then your blog and a recent feature on 'The One Show' on BBC1 have made me more aware of this condition. How frustrating though it must have been to wait so long for a diagnosis and the correct treatment. You must be enjoying life to the full now :)

  12. Thank you Anna.

Yes it was good that the One Show did a reasonable mention of Lyme Disease after a disastrous one some months ago where the guy thought it was funny that ticks were feeding off him. What a dreadful example for children to see.

There is much controversay about blood tests and treatment HPA advised my GP that I had been adequately treated 2 years ago when I could barely walk and was in constant pain. Thank goodness my GP followed ILADS treatment and I have my health back and no pain.

  15. I feel SO extremely honored to be in this company. I sincerely apologize for not coming over to accept the award sooner. We've had a lot going on this past week with my father-in-law's passing and I'm finally resurfacing (albeit with a minor cold virus). Thank you SO much for this lovely award! It means so very much!

    Hugs,
    Cindy
