COW PARSLEY

I had to show the lovely Cow Parsley it is so ethereal to walk through the woods at this time of year, although my photography does not do it justice.

The Cow Parsley is not as tall as some years, I suspect due to a rather dry spell we have had these last few weeks.

  1. Hi Joanne

I too am a cow parsley fan. There's also a giant type, an import from India that pops up. I can't remember its name.

  2. There is cow parsley at the side of the lane from our house to the main road Joanne. I have taken some photos of it today. An interesting point you make about why it may not be as tall as in previous years. Ours does not look as spectacular as usual but I could not fathom out why. I think that you may have hit the nail on the head :)

  4. Catherine Thank you for your kind comment.

Anna Yes In the woods and by the road is lovely but years ago some seeded in the garden after I had a vase of them indoors. Beautiful on their own in a vase especially a glass one, but not a good idea to put on the compost heap afterwards. In the garden it is a real thug.

Rob we get what I think is hog weed in the hedgerows here much taller and stronger than Cow Parsley. Not found your one perhaps you can let me know if you find it's name.

  5. Hi Joanne, Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm following you now, too;-) I have never heard of nor seen cow parsley so this is a new one for me...but it does look nice lining the paths in the woods. You have taken some lovely photos and I enjoyed the slide show!

  6. Jan Thanks for joining me and for your kind words. Since starting this blog and taking more pictures two things have happened one I think I'd like a better camera and two I am enjoying looking at things differently and more importantly noticing things I would not always see.

Since recovering from Lyme Disease after 6 years of ill health, it is so good to be able to garden again and as your blog says Thank you 4-2day. Makes you enjoy the little things so much more and chasing rainbows can only lead to disappointment.

  7. Hi Joanne! Thanks for taking us on this walk with you! You are right, it's not as tall as the Alaskan cow parsley that I showed in my post. Could it be because it grows in the woods and not in a very open space? Anyway, it's lovely!

  8. Tatyana It is normaly about a foot taller but nevertheless it is more dainty than Hogweed which also grows in the hedgerows.
