ROSES IN MAY

Early morning photo of my rose garden although if you look carefully it is actually the vegetable garden.

The following are in the front garden.

The Nepata six hills giant ( catmint) works so well in these beds of Box with the roses.

Cornelia a cutting from the other Cornelia rose.

The last group of photos were taken with my camera in the morning before the sun was on this part of the garden, but as heavy rain was forecast I wanted to be sure to get some photos before the rain damaged the flowers.

These photos are taken with my phone later in the evening after some rain so slightly misty and overcast.

Left to right Cornelia, Cecile Brunner, Cornelia again and Francine Austin.

What would I do without David Austin roses.

  1. what an amazing garden, Joanne. And ditto your huge collection of roses. My favourite is the Jayne Austin, the shape is like Souvenir de Malmaison, but its yellow instead of pink.

  2. Hi - its nice to find a fellow fan of roses and of David Austin Roses too! The photos were a real treat. Just beautiful. I particularly like the Cornelia rose with the nepeta and Box - and I'm noting this for myself!!
I've had Francine Austin for 15 years now - flowers for months, lovely scent and now very big. I've cut it right back for the first time this year hard - hope it survives.
My favourite rose at the moment - a new one - that I really reccomend is lady Hamilton - its the most beautiful citrus rose fragrance and the flowers and leaves are a really rich colour too.
