COLUMBIA RD MARKET LONDON E2

Rachel and I visited Columbia Road Flower Market in London E2. It is held every Sunday and gets very busy by the afternoon. Anyone with a bit of free time in London may enjoy a visit. The photos speak for themselves.

Living so near such lovely flowers and plants how could you not dress your terrace?

  1. Oh Joanne, the photo's are really beautiful, you have mastered that camera well. I haven't been to that market for years. The last flower market in London I went to was Camden, so I want to go to Columbia rd now, it looks fab.

  2. Wow, the market looks absolutely gorgeous. I've never been (typical Londoner, so much on offer and we never visit anything). Must add it to my list of things to do one Sunday when I fancy a change...

  6. Hi Thanks for all your comments.

Yes I did meet some flowers I had not had aquaintence with previously but not many.

The sun came out after all the rain and made it difficult to take some photos although I had equally as many left that I did not choose to post.

I came away without buying a plant or flower but did buy some small garden ornaments ceramic mushrooms and two small metal birds. The shops along one side of the street sell many garden pots and ornaments as well as other things.

I am struggling with space in my garden to plant my many seeds and cuttings out and need to get rid of yet more ground elder first. Sometimes faced with so much choice I end up not buying anything.

  8. What temptation Joanne. Going to London is a rare treat me for me but there's another event to add to the wish list of activities, when I do get there. Enjoyed your tour of the market. You showed admirable self restraint with your purchases :)

  9. Hi Joanne, I wandered into your blog from elsewhere - and what a happy accident! I have loved reading your posts and your photos of the market are quite stunning.

I'm glad you're finally recovering from the Lymes Disease. It sounds like you've had a very grim and tough time of it. Can I suggest a course of reflexology to pep up your immune system?!

Thanks for a lovely read :)

  10. Thanks for your comments

Anna Make a date for your trip to london one thing my illness taught me is to not put things off but to enjo the day.

Liz Nice of you to stop by and yes you are quite right anything that helps the immune system (as Borrelia itself suppresses the immune system and is another reason why it is so difficult to get rid of)is important with Lyme Disease so thank you for your suggestion.

  13. Thanks for sharing so many lovely photos...you take great pictures, by the way!! Makes me want to get out and tour some 'gardens' around me...there are many botanical gardens nearby. Markets are here too...I just have to search for them. The terrace is heaven...would love to sit on that porch! So glad you had a fun time! I hope you are really enjoying your spring and feeling great!! What a joy (AND A GIFT) to get out and love life once again!!!

  14. Jan I look forward to seeing your local gardens then. Thanks for your comments.

Yes life is a joy, your sentiments are mine exactly. Greater than any riches that can be given I still find many moments through the day when I move my arms and legs, just because I can again,it gives me quite an exciting feeling. Only tempered by the fact that I am appauled by the controversay that has developed leaving thousands of people the world over struggling for diagnosis and treatment. To be blunt the biggest medical cock up ever and I make no apologise for my language because it will impact on so many auto immune illnesses cause unknown. To quote Dr Jemsek out of 20 top chronic diseases only two have known origin. Cases of Lyme have been found amongst most of them and patients have recovered after long term antibiotics,no not every person with every illness but how many are ever tested or assessed properly.

    Sorry folks rant over.

  16. Thank you you all made such lovely comments.

One woman spoke to me after I'd taken a photo and I said I'd be putting them on my blog that night and they would be looked at in USA tomorrow. Isn't the internet wonderful.
